The global pandemic has touched all our lives and has further magnified the growing racial inequities in our country.
As a school community we are saddened by the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin and are deeply saddened and disturbed by the violence against protesters that followed. We want to acknowledge the systemic brutalities against Black and Brown communities in this country and want to name Rise Prep as a place of community, love, and support where Black Lives Matter.
Though we are learning virtually the next few months, Rise Prep and Rise Academy is committed to antiracism and racial equity. We will work tirelessly to ensure that Black and Brown voice is centered, valued, and affirmed at our school. We want our school community to appreciate each other’s cultural differences because diversity of race, creed, thought, and expression is testament to our collective strength.
